Casmina

Casmina Magdalena Haas is an internationally active visual artist whose practice has developed over more than two decades and is strongly influenced by extensive artistic travels and long-term, site-specific retreats in over 30 counties worldwide. After studying painting at the University of the Arts Bremen and the Academy of Fine Arts Munich, she has been working as a freelance artist since 2000, developing a multidisciplinary expanded body of work that encompasses objects, paintings, Ready-mades, and material-based processes.
At the heart of her artistic practice is the ongoing series Objects of Essence – concentrated, contemplative works of art that embody lived experiences, places, and inner transitions. These works emerge from extended stays and artistic encounters in various regions of the world, including deserts, polar landscapes, sacred and remote areas, and zones of cultural change. Her travels through Europe, the Middle East, Africa, South America, and the polar regions serve as embodied research, in which materials, environments, and natural forces directly influence the artistic creative process.
Casmina works with precious and elemental materials such as gold, platinum, palladium, mineral pigments, earths, and sands – to create works of reduced form and quiet intensity. Her works are presented in select international contexts and appeal to collectors and institutions who value depth, presence, and timeless resonance beyond trends.
